Control the stress of your day with proper sleep

by | December 6, 2010 | Advice

Sleep Quantity and Quality will influence the person you are today!

  1. Try to get up at the same time every morning. Your body clock needs to settle into a regular rhythm so that it knows when it is time to sleep and time to wake up.
  2. Cut down on the caffeine. Keep your energy levels up by having a good breakfast that includes whole grains and fresh fruit.
  3. Thirty minutes of exercise a day  If you can, walk to work, or park further away so you can walk the rest of the way. It is important to make time every day for walking, exercise will stimulate your mind and body while increasing alertness throughout your day.
  4. Sunshine!! Artificial lighting can interfere with sleep so get your dose of vitamin D get outside and breathe in some fresh air.
  5. Get your evening meal on the table as early as possible eat lightly with plenty of fresh vegetables, don’t make your stomach work all night digesting big lumps of meat.
  6. Spend some time winding down relax listen to soft music, have a warm bath and enjoy  a soothing drink, such as chamomile tea before you go to bed. This helps put you in the mood to sleep.
  7. Go to bed at a reasonable hour allow a few minutes to reflect on the positive aspects in your day Ayurveda suggests 10pm is the perfect time to fall asleep
  8. Clear out the clutter! Turn off the cell phone, television, move your laptop to another room. No stray light to interfere with your  sleep inducing hormones If you are waking up with a sore back it might be time to change your mattress studies suggest that if a mattress is over five years old it might be time for a new one it is after all where we spend 1/3 of our lives!! Choose natural fiber sheets made from 100% organic cotton

Little Leaders at the Americana

by | May 20, 2010 | Initiatives

As the leader in family entertainment, The Americana Conference Resort & Spa is taking the initiative to create programs that award the true stars in their community I am very excited for the launch of our new program: Little Leaders! The enthusiasm children show towards events such as: fundraising, charities, community volunteering, and helping others can sometimes go unrecognized! The Americana Resort is thrilled to honor the hard work and dedication of these little leaders to the community!

Little Leaders is a program that recognizes the great work that children between the ages of 7 and 13 achieve in their daily lives. Children will be nominated each month by teachers, parents, friends, or family, where a detailed story will be submitted and published onto our web site. At the end of each month, a draw will take place where one of the nominees will win a pizza party and 4 water park passes for Waves Indoor Water Park in the Americana Resort and Spa.

The positive feedback that I’ve received from the Americana Resort owners and staff has been inspiring. Look for more details on our blog and homepage next week!
